Hello Everyone,
Please join us this coming saturday for the return of STATELESS. What can you expect sonically? As usual, we will journey across diverse sonic terrain, striving for that dialectical relationship between bounded and unbound - sounds that are international and outernational, roots and wires, as well as those from the various in-between, liminal spaces...
The special agent k (rootsandwires hi-fi) will open the night with some roots, lover's, and dub and work his way through outernational dub, south-asian downtempo, grime/dubstep, UK steppers, and depending on how the crowd is feeling it, eventually settle into some south asian breaks and drum and bass. D. Wurkur (Six Degrees) will also drop an eclectic set. Then we have special guest DJ Tomas (XLR8R), who will draw from the deeper side of dubbed techno, house, broken beat, as well as some serious uptempo business. We have a live act, Lemonade, with a drummer, bassist, vocalist dropping discopunk with arabic and baile funk elements. Finally the three dj's will rotate and close off the night.
We do hope to see you all. We have a potential sponsor coming in from NYC, so if we pack the night, we will have a regular chunk of cash which we will use to bring in live acts for you which explore the grittier and more experimental side of outernational sounds. Given the success of D. Wurkur's "Novo Sounds" Brazillian event at Madrone last week (where there was a record crowd!) things seem promising for STATELESS in 2006...
So join us this Saturday 1/28/06 at Amnesia, in San Francisco's Mission District, between 19th and 20th on Valencia (853 Valencia). The cover will be a next-to-nothing at $3 and there will be drink specials.
